Maintpartner has upgraded its commitment to the UN Global Compact initiative. Global Compact is the world's largest corporate responsibility initiative involving more than 9,500 companies. Maintpartner joined the initiative in 2016, committed to meeting the Global Compact's ten principles of responsible business operations in the area of human rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption activities.

This year, there are new priorities in the Maintpartner report including the processing of personal data in accordance with the EU data protection legislation, stronger obligations for the subcontracting network, and the emphasis on preventive safety work.

At Maintpartner, proactive safety work has brought excellent results. Injuries and accidents at work have fallen significantly for years. Focus on occupational health has, in turn, improved the well-being of workers so that, for example, in Finland, the average retirement age has risen for four years above the industry average up to about sixty years of age.

As regards the environment, measures include increasing use of renewable diesel, energy-efficient lighting and heating, remote meetings and new digital solutions for internal communications, among other things. The Maintpartner operation and maintenance personnel also improve the environmental responsibility of the industrial and energy plants it manages with several small and large solutions that reduce the need for raw materials, energy and spare parts.

”Cooperation and joint commitments play a key role in building more just and more sustainable societies,” says EVP Development Laura Kauppinen from Maintpartner. "For us, Global Compact is a valuable standard against which we measure and develop our own business. On the other hand, it is a way of communicating important themes in international context. Our values and ethical principles are present in our lives and provide our employees, from technicians to senior management, the basis for our activities. We also consider sustainability to be vital for the fulfilment of our customer promise and for being a good company."
