Versowood, a Finland-based sawn timber producer, has selected Maintpartner as its partner to be in charge of the maintenance of Vierumäki plant. The goal of shifting to the partnership model is to update the operating model and run systematic maintenance operations.
The contract enters into force and the 29-person maintenance staff at the mill will transfer to Maintpartner on 1 October.
Versowood is Finland's largest private forest industry group manufacturing a wide range of wood-based products. Vierumäki is their largest site, which includes two sawmill lines, glulam plant, pole division, pellet mill, as well as thermal energy and further processing plants. The 110-hectare production area has about three hundred workers. The Group has a turnover of approximately EUR 400 million and employs some 800 people in total.
“With this solution, we are seeking a new operating model for the entire unit. In today's world, it is important that production efficiency is constantly increasing. We have strong growth goals for the coming years, particularly at Vierumäki, and we believe that outsourcing is now the right solution for achieving the best and most cost-effective maintenance,” comments Ville Kopra, CEO of Versowood Group.
“We are very pleased with Versowood's trust and selection. Maintpartner has a solid track record of operating and maintaining various types of plants and projects, and has over a thousand industry professionals in Finland, so we are the right partner for Versowood to develop maintenance more efficient, systematic and proactive,” says Pasi Tolppanen, CEO of Maintpartner Group.
To develop its operations, Maintpartner places its own experienced professionals to Vierumäki: a maintenance manager and foreman, and, for the first year, a development engineer to support the development work.
The contract has a minimum duration of three years.
