Fortum and Maintpartner have extended the Meri-Pori power plant operation and maintenance partnership agreement until the end of 2023. Maintpartner's employees are responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of the plant and its small maintenance projects.

"Maintpartner has reliably kept the Meri-Pori plant in good working order. With the new agreement, we will provide more market-driven flexibility in operation and maintenance, which we believe will benefit both parties," says Vesa Maso, Head of Thermal at Fortum.

“Maintpartner is grateful to be able to continue its important role in power generation and security of supply in close cooperation with Fortum. The extension of the Meri-Pori agreement will further enhance Maintpartner's service offering in the Pori direction,” says Vilho Salovaara, President of Energy at Maintpartner.

The Meri-Pori power plant is Finland's largest coal-fired power plant. The plant was completed in 1994 and has an electrical output of 565 MW. More than half of the power plant's production capacity is in Finland's power reserve.

Maintpartner has been responsible for the operation and maintenance of several Fortum power plants and district heating networks since autumn 2016.

The value of the contract is not disclosed.
